THE OPPORTUNITY
This position reports directly to the US-based VP of Human Resources and has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the SVP/Managing Director in Bellinzona, Switzerland. As the primary HR contact for the Bellinzona site, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive Human Resources support. In this role, you will provide expert HR guidance and support to employees, including coaching and advising on a variety of people-related matters. You will also contribute to organizational design initiatives and oversee the execution of core HR programs and annual cyclical activities, such as salary and performance reviews, as well as workforce planning.
Additionally, you will support our payroll process (performed in cooperation with an external firm), manage the full recruitment cycle for all Bellinzona-based positions, and coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Responsible for all HR-related site tasks such as salary reviews, performance reviews, workforce planning, budgeting, and year-end closing
- Evaluate Swiss local country employment legislation, and other relevant countries’ legislation, HR policies and practices and adapt to Vir Bio’s global processes and policies in tight collaboration with US corporate HR
- Manage day-to-day HR matters for all Swiss-based employees, addressing their questions and concerns
- Serve as the primary point of contact for line Management and employees on all HR-related issues
- Prepare accurate monthly HR closing data for the external payroll consultant
- Act as super user and main administrator of the time registration tool
- Coordinate all communications to the insurance companies and social institutions for HR related topics
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of employees, supporting their administrative requirements in coordination with our US-based HR colleagues
- Lead Ongoing talent discussions and assessments, keep accurate data management of ongoing talent analysis, Leadership development, coordination of in-house and external trainings
- Support of compensation planning
- Maintain up-to-date electronic and paper personnel files
- Supports the recruitment process by contacting candidates and scheduling interviews
- Provide support for any other administrative-related activity.
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree and a degree as qualified HR professional (Swiss HR Specialist)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role within a complex, multinational environment required
- Proven experience in talent management and organizational design
- Experience using HR analytics is an asset
- Excellent language skills (English, Italian and German as a must)
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or under minimal supervision, while keeping relevant parties informed
- Prioritization of work and accuracy in meeting deadlines required
- Meets the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality
- Experience providing advice and supporting career development is required
- Previous pharma/ biotech industry experience preferred
- In-depth knowledge of Swiss employment laws and HR practices
- Ability to work from our Bellinzona, Switzerland office
