Your Role:
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of microbiology professionals.
- Plan and oversee daily laboratory operations, including planning of activities and resources (e.g. method development and implementation, as well as verification / qualification, In-Process-Control and QC testing).
- Develop and implement microbiological testing protocols and procedures.
- Responsible for the Environmental Monitoring at the BDC.
- Define and improve workflows in the lab as necessary.
- Ensure GMP and regulatory compliance as well as proper training of the team.
- Oversee analytical equipment qualification processes and services.
- Ensure safety measures are adequately implemented and followed in the lab.
- Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory procedures as well as test results,
- Contribute to drafting and reviewing Quality Technical Agreements with internal or external partners related to microbiological testing or sample management activities.
- Utilize a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for data entry, result review, and reporting.
- Review and approve microbiological test results and reports.
- Conduct investigations of microbiological failures and implement corrective actions.
- Stay abreast of technical innovations in the field of microbiology testing (e.g. automation)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and quality assurance initiatives.
Who you are:
- Graduate degree or Ph.D in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in microbiology quality control or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of microbiological testing methods and regulatory requirements as well as Environmental Monitoring.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proactive in delivering results and driving improvements
- Strong knowledge of GMP (Deviation, Change Control, CAPA) and experience with health authority inspections and internal audits.
- Proficiency in LIMS, SAP is a plus.
- You are fluent in English (B2 or higher), German or French is a plus.
The position is based in Corsier-sur-Vevey in the Merck Biotech Development Center.
