The Forum works with partners to accelerate a sustainable, secure and just energy and materials transition that delivers on future societal needs. To this end, the community has established the Securing Minerals for the Energy Transition (SMET) initiative to accelerate policy dialogue, investment mobilisation, innovation and thought leadership across a global ecosystem.
Why we are Recruiting
SMET is scaling up activities, including around trade and investment flows and policies, responding to a rapidly evolving landscape. The Lead will be responsible for trade and investment research contributing to SMET deliverables. That will involve drafting concise written outputs, working with the Forum’s partners to iterate content, and providing accessible trade and investment data insights to facilitate various dialogues. It will also involve tracking the evolving landscape around minerals partnerships and intergovernmental efforts. In addition, Lead will liaise between the SMET team and the Forum’s government engagement, as well as international organisation teams.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
The Program Coordinator reports to the Lead, Materials Systems.
Internally, the successful candidate will work in very close collaboration with colleagues within the program and across relevant Forum’s teams. Externally, the work will involve interactions with a broad range of stakeholders and partner companies in the industry value chain.
Main responsibilities
Communications
Create and deliver the communications strategy and communications assets (social media posts, blogs, videos, etc) for the Securing Minerals for the Energy Transition initiative.
Contribute to other external media content, including podcasts, webinars and speaking engagements, to elevate awareness of the initiative
Operations: Budget and grant management
Monitors and track budget in partnership with finance team against planned allocations, ensuring up-to-date financial status reporting.
Prepare and communicate budget status updates
Prepare grant reports
Team Coordination and support
Organizing meeting schedules, and maintaining internal documents (initiative events calendar, distribution lists etc.).
Supporting the onboarding process for new colleagues/fellows.
Providing ad-hoc support for Manager (e.g. events, offsites, presentations, bilateral meetings).
Preferred requirements and experience
Bachelor’s or Matsters degree in a relevant field.
3–5 years of professional experience in communications, event coordination, project management, or a related field.
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and manage expectations of senior executives and their staff with confidence.
Exceptional organizational skills and a strong work ethic.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel); familiarity with Salesforce an advantage.
Ability to thrive in a demanding environment and handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
Demonstrate excellent organizational, project and time management skills, and possess high attention to detail.
Self-starting, independent thinker who thrives as a flexible team player.
