The Senior Director, Supply Chain Procurement MedTech Surgery (Ethicon) will be accountable to oversee the external spend in support of the MedTech Surgery Business Unit. The Surgery Business Unit and related platforms are present in most markets of the world, accounting for approx. $10 billion NTS with projected strong growth and premier market positions. The spend in support of this business resides in multiple categories and sums up to more than $1billion annually.
The Senior Director Supply Chain Procurement’s scope of responsibilities includes specifically:
- Responsible for developing and implement global sourcing and procurement strategies for $1B+ direct material spend and 500+ suppliers for MedTech Surgery Business Unit. Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment with sourcing & procurement initiatives.
- Drive engagement with strategic suppliers to deliver solutions for the Surgery business.
- Own Source P&L and related financial commitments (cost actions, inflation and investments). Deliver Source business plan and the related long range financial plans for the Surgery business.
- Own the overall category and supplier management strategic objectives for the spend in scope under the Surgery SC Procurement team and work in close collaboration with other Business Unit Procurement Leaders and MedTech Center Procurement Leaders for the spend scope shared across BUs.
- Lead multi-year value creation roadmap and related COGS savings program. Deliver spend efficiency & productivity (COGS & OPEX) through leveraging scale, partnerships, and value engineering.
- Ensure reliability of supply and orchestrate critical supplier issues in partnership with E2E Supply Chain, Plan, Quality, R&D and TechOps functions.
- Advance Supply Chain Procurement capabilities in supplier risk management.
- Partner closely with Business Development and R&D functions, leading new product introduction (NPI) and fostering suppliers enabled innovation and R&D upstream engagement.
- Manage the relationship between Procurement and various Business stakeholders and represent Procurement within E2E Supply Chain & R&D leadership teams.
- Demonstrate ability to negotiate critical matters and influence.
- Partner as pro-active member of the E2E Supply Chain LT and SC Procurement LT. Being an active citizen in the MedTech Supply Chain community as well as in the Procurement function.
- Develop high performing procurement organization, driving a culture of value creation, collaboration, and inclusion. Advocate & deploy best practices, new capabilities in process, systems and digital analytics.
The position holder will manage a direct team of 5 and an indirect team of 25 employees and would have following key internal and external relationships:
Internal
• Active full member of the MedTech SC Procurement Leadership Team
• Active full member of the MedTech Surgery SC Leadership team
• Procurement representative in MedTech Surgery R&D, Regulatory and Quality LT’s
• Procurement representative in MedTech Commercial leaders and boards (as appropriate)
External
• Owners, CEO’s and other executive leaders of top tier suppliers
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
• BS/BA required
• Masters or relevant post graduate degree preferred
Experience and key competencies:
• Experienced professional with business experience in multiple roles across a variety of functional specialties including general management, R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain or a Technical field with at least 10+ years within a Procurement environment in a senior position.
• Good level of understanding of the Procurement processes and experience in engaging internal stakeholders and leadership teams.
• Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (e.g. Category Management, Supplier Management, Supply Chain Integration, Business planning, Performance Management).
• Strong Customer Orientation (building and maintaining strong relationships with JNJ senior Management).
• Strong leadership, vision/strategy setting, communication, influencing, collaboration, talent development skills are key
• Strong project and change management capabilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information
• Ability to continuously improve the organization
• Strong Business Acumen, Medical Device and specifically Surgery relevant industry experience preferred
• Multi-country and Multi sector experience preferred.
• High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management and performance, supply market analysis, Category Management, Contract development, Procurement Excellence, etc.)
• High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community
• Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., businesses, Procurement LT, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain); has "presence"
• Proven track record in attracting and developing talent

• Experience to work across regions and understand markets in particular in Asia is preferred
