Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is a global community of policy, business, and finance professionals and organisations committed to collaboratively generating, managing, and sharing knowledge on the transition to an inclusive green economy. The GGKP is led by UNEP, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the World Bank). The mission of GGKP is to empower government decision makers, companies and financial institutions with evidence-based knowledge that can best support them to contribute effectively to the green economy transition. The GGKP provides its best practice knowledge management services through its three core platforms, the Green Policy Platform, the Green Industry Platform, and the Green Finance Platform. A branding and graphic design consultant (retainer-based) is sought to assist in developing brand identities and graphic assets across GGKP platforms and its associated projects. This work entails the creation of branding materials and templates, graphic design and publications layout, development of web pages, mobile apps and UX-designs, and production of social media materials and other communication assets. Purpose and Scope of Assignment The expected duration of the assignment is 12 months, part-time, and up to 180 days of actual work through a retainer-based contract. The specific tasks under this assignment will include: • Developing graphics, web-page and UI layouts for GGKP platforms, mobile apps and supported projects; • Developing UX prototypes and designs for GGKP platforms, mobile apps and supported projects; • Developing templates for promotional assets, including social media cards, reports, presentations, press releases, infographics, fact sheets and other materials; • Designing social media graphics, banners, posters, slides, flyers, and other promotional materials. • Designing and laying out reports, brochures, case studies and other publications, and supplying them as print-ready and web-version files; • Developing brand identities, in consultation with the relevant project team and partners, including logo, mark, primary and secondary typeface, color palette, graphic elements (icons, lockups etc), and photobanks; • Creating brand books with clear guidelines on how to properly use the relevant visual identity and brand assets; • Providing ad hoc support to the GGKP team on graphic creation for events and other promotional activities. Monitoring and Progress Controls In line with GGKP and its related projects’ work programme the consultant will be expected to work up to a total of 180 workdays over the 12-month duration of this retainer-based consultancy. • Supply web page layouts, UI elements, UX designs or graphic components for online platforms, including those needed for FARM, ISLANDS, Green Forum, GEF NZNP, I-GO and other GGKP-maintained web pages: at least 6 design packages supplied in the format requested by GGKP (including Figma layouts when required), according to specific project timelines. • Successfully develop templates for promotional assets, including templates for social media cards, reports, presentations, press releases, infographics, fact sheets and other materials: at least one package of templates supplied and made available on Canva and as Microsoft office template for project specific and/or cross-cutting GGKP purposes. • Successfully develop promotional materials for GGKP-maintained projects, platforms and activities, including social media graphics, banners, posters, slides, flyers, and other assets: at least 10 materials developed and supplied in the format requested by GGKP (including print-ready files when required), according to project specific timelines. • Successfully develop publications for GGKP-maintained projects, platforms and activities, including reports, brochures, case studies and other materials: at least 10 materials developed and supplied in the format requested by GGKP (including print-ready files when required), according to project specific timelines. • Develop brand identities and brand books with guidelines on brand applications: at least 3 brand identities / brand books developed and supplied in PDF and editable formats, according to project specific timelines. • Provide timely ad hoc visual design support for events and other activities maintained by GGKP: at least 3 events supported; the response to each ad hoc support request with the proposed action plan provided within 3 working days.
Qualifications/special skills
• A bachelor’s degree in the field of graphic design is required. • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in graphic design is required. • Experience with developing web-page layouts, UI elements and UX designs is required. • Experience developing or revitalizing a brand is required. • Experience working with international organizations is desirable. • Experience working in the context of agrochemicals, finance and/or sustainability is desirable. • Two examples of past work on brand development that are aligned with the FARM project’s topical areas of chemicals, agriculture, finance, and plastics and/or focus on development support provided as supporting documentation is required.

- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
