Strategic Procurement Sub-Category Specialist Packaging (m/f/*)

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Strategic Procurement Specialist for Packaging Materials based in Langenthal, Switzerland, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

• Acting as the primary commercial contact for Packaging in the EMEA region

• Leading price and contract negotiations and work on improving cash flow for the designated Packaging sub-category

• Driving projects focusing on cost reduction and efficiency

• Conducting research to gain insights into short- and long-term market trends for assigned raw materials and feedstocks

• Identifying, leading, and implementing solutions for price negotiation, inflation mitigation, category strategy, and supplier management

• Determining and spearheading opportunities for supplier consolidation and process enhancements

• Fostering collaborative relationships with 3M’s Packaging Engineering Team, business units, and manufacturing plants

• Cultivating strong partnerships with strategic suppliers

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

• 2-3 years of experience in procurement, ideally gained in Packaging, in a multi-cultural matrix organization

• Ability to formulate, recommend and implement procurement strategies and align with stakeholders

• Fluent in English (written and verbal)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Negotiation skills and attention to detail

• Self-starter with a positive & pro-active approach

• Project Management Skills

• Financial acumen and comfort with conducting business analytics

• Knowledge of SAP MM module, including procurement processes such as Purchasing Info Record, Purchase Orders, and Vendor Management

Job specifics:

• Travel requirement: 10-15% of time

• Work location: Langenthal, Switzerland - Hybrid working pattern with at least 1 day per week spent in the Langenthal office

• Working pattern - Full-Time
