The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is looking for a Security Officer to join our Corporate Security and Cyber Outreach department.
The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.
Purpose of the role:
The mission of the BIS is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.
Our Corporate Security team plays a vital role in allowing the Bank to carry out its strategic objectives by managing the reception, protection and access control duties with respect to the BIS's Basel premises, assets, staff and visitors.
By joining the Corporate Security and Cyber Outreach team, you will:
Join a team of experienced professionals who are the first point of contact and the face of the Bank with customer service at heart.
You will play an important role in access control and surveillance activities.
You will have an opportunity to contribute to smooth running of special events at the Bank.
Principal accountabilities:
Protects Bank staff and guests, and safeguards Bank assets and property on the Bank’s Basel premises.
Monitors CCTV and building management systems.
Checks identification of Bank staff and guests.
Collaborates with and instructs service providers in physical security.
Responds to fire and intrusion alarms in accordance with Bank procedures.
Provides first aid, assists in evacuation, comply with Swiss Law and cooperates with emergency authorities.
Reports all complaints/issues as soon as possible to the Head of Physical Security (or authorised delegate).
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
At least 5 years’ relevant experience in physical security.
Trained and certified in security, safety and surveillance.
Basic training in administering first aid and firefighting.
Operation of IT systems and applications, specifically access controlling and building management systems.
Reliable, accurate and organised; able to spot suspicious occurrences or behaviour; concise; share information with line managers and team.
Active, dynamic, focused, able to cope with stress and take instruction.
Work in 24/7 shifts across the BIS’s Basel office locations may be required.
Fluency in English and German. Other languages are an asset.
