As the Director, EMEA Assistant Controller (Accounting and Reporting), you will be responsible for providing technical accounting proficiency, financial reporting acumen and leadership through business partnership to Dentsply Sirona’s Accounting function in EMEA. You will support or lead various aspects of US GAAP and local accounting in accordance with applicable standards and regulations for the region, supporting maintaining accurate and complete books and records. You will also manage aspects of financial reporting for the EMEA region, ensuring reporting to support quarterly filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as managing the timely completion of all required statutory reporting, including supporting independent audits where required. Responsibilities will also include maintaining an effective environment of internal control over financial reporting that is in compliance with section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley act. The Company is on a transformation journey, implementing SAP S/4HANA globally, modernizing the finance function and optimizing our global operations. This position will serve as a key business partner supporting the Commercial and operational leadership teams in EMEA, proactively providing accounting guidance to on recurring and non-recurring business transactions. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage aspects of the monthly and quarterly close cadence for EMEA entities to ensure books and records are prepared in accordance with US GAAP and Dentsply Sirona accounting and reporting policies while creating an environment that fosters continuous improvement and process refinement
- Ensure quarterly financial reporting is aligned to global reporting requirements to support preparation of consolidated financial statements for SEC reporting
- Support or manage aspects of the timely preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with local accounting requirements
- Support execution of internal and external audits in accordance with agreed timelines
- Maintain and optimize an effective internal control environment, including overseeing remediation of control deficiencies and Corporate Audit observations
- Liaise with global Accounting team, EMEA Commercial, GBU leaders and other business partners to provide accounting and reporting subject matter expertise
- Support and lead aspects of enterprise transformation initiatives, including implementation of a global ERP solution and maturation of the global business services model
- Lead training and professional development activities for the team to foster effective complement of personnel and supporting continued growth and development of talent within the Accounting organization
- Lead, manage or support special projects as assigned
Your profile:
- University degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related discipline
- Professional certification in accounting (CA, CPA or equivalent) that is actively maintained
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in related function
- Foundational experience with a big 4 public accounting firm and experience auditing or working in large, multi-natioal public company
- Global, multinational company experience
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA or other large ERP applications
- Experience in a manufacturing company with medical device experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Uncompromised commitment to operate in an ethical and compliant manner
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements, both US GAAP and IFRS
- Results and continuous improvement-oriented; demonstrated ability to lead or support transformations, operate with a strategic global mindset
- Ability to build relationships to partner with the business and work with various levels of internal and external constituencies, such as top leaders and key external partners
- Superior communication skills, including verbal, oral and through presentations
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach to solutioning and collaborative resolution; strong follow-through
- Adept at leveraging technology and analytics to drive process improvement, build a contemporary accounting function
- Ability to work in a challenging environment with multiple, changing, and competing priorities
- Strong team orientation, and ability to fit in with Dentsply Sirona’s culture
- Willingness to travel as necessary, approximately 20%
