Start of employment 01.08.2027The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a Professorship and Chair of Neurosurgery.
The chair is based at the Department of Neurosurgery of the University Hospital Zurich and represents the subject in research, teaching and patient care. The professor will be appointed as head of the department.
We are looking for a dynamic, integrative personality with extensive clinical expertise and scientific experience in neurosurgery and corresponding international visibility. The future chair holder will have a convincing concept for the neurosurgical research of the future. Active cooperation with the Clinical Neuroscience Center is expected. Its focus areas include vascular diseases of the CNS, brain tumors, and functional neurology/neurosurgery. Teaching includes student teaching, specialist training in neurosurgery and continuous further training. The successful candidate will have a specialist title in neurosurgery (Facharzt für Neurochirurgie) as well as a habilitation or equivalent scientific qualification. As the future professor will take over the management of the Department of Neurosurgery, broad surgical experience combined with the management or deputy management of clinical unit at a university hospital is required. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in the management of a re-search group and clinical trials, the acquisition of competitive third-party funding as well as in student teaching, the supervision of qualification theses and the promotion of young academics.

The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the existing as well as new collaborations within the hospital and with other research institutions. Specifically, a close clinical and scientific partnership with the Departments of Neurology as well as Neuroradiology is expected within the framework of the Clinical Neuroscience Center.
German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
