The Mission:
The mission of the On-trip group is to create a loyal customer base by exceeding travelers’ expectations with a stress-free and delightful post-purchase experience.
As a backend engineer in Zurich’s On-trip group, you will be working with other engineers and our product manager on the backend that powers some of the most important post-purchase functionalities of our marketplace, such as transactional emails processing, voucher delivery, meeting point and pickup coordinator, customer assistance flows, and more.
You will be part of the evolution of our post-purchase experience, ensuring we deliver a seamless fulfillment experience for the vast majority of customers and make it easy for those who did not have a seamless experience to get help.
You will:
- Work in a cross-functional mission team with engineers, designers and analysts
- Help to enable your mission team to iterate fast and learn about our customers by designing, launching and iterating on A/B experiments
- Continuously improve our code base, systems and processes
- Design and develop efficient solutions that can continue to scale
Who you are:
- 6+ years of software development experience
- High proficiency in Java
- Experience designing architecture and deployment of web applications & services
- Expertise in web application development using component-based frameworks
- Experience with distributed systems
- Ability to turn ideas into fast, reliable, and maintainable code
- Positive, proactive team player who is passionate about their craft
- Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to others
Bonus points for:
- Knowledge of frameworks and toolchains such as Node.js, Vue.js, or similar component-based Frontend frameworks and libraries
- Experience in operating at scale and a cloud DevOps / infrastructure mindset (Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Experience in migrating a monolithic application to a services-oriented architecture is a plus.
- Experience with A/B testing, hypothesis building, and event-based analytics
- Prior experience working in the e-commerce space
- Prior experience in start-up environments
