Responsibilities
OTC Trade Drafting & Documentation
- Draft bespoke and template-based OTC trade confirmations in line with ISDA definitions and market conventions.
- Ensure confirmation language accurately reflects trade terms agreed between counterparties, including any negotiated clauses or bespoke provisions.
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to validate confirmation terms and ensure documentation is enforceable and compliant.
Trade Validation & Confirmation
- Verify trade economics and legal terms against front office booking systems and counterparty records.
- Issue and match confirmations via industry platforms (e.g., MarkitWire for interest rate and credit derivatives, DTCC for equity derivatives) and through manual drafting where required.
- Resolve trade discrepancies efficiently by liaising with front office, counterparties, and brokers.
Operational Risk & Controls
- Monitor outstanding confirmations to ensure timely execution within regulatory and internal deadlines.
- Maintain a robust audit trail of all drafting and confirmation activity.
- Escalate unresolved breaks or disputes promptly, highlighting potential operational or legal risks.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to applicable OTC derivative regulations (e.g., EMIR, Dodd-Frank, MiFID II) and any jurisdictional requirements.
- Support reporting obligations by ensuring trade data is accurate and complete for downstream reporting.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Identify opportunities to automate OTC drafting processes and improve confirmation cycle times.
- Participate in system enhancements, template updates, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with traders, middle office, settlements, legal, and compliance teams.
- Engage professionally with counterparty operations teams to resolve breaks and expedite confirmations.
Eligibility Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in OTC trade support, drafting, or confirmations within a bank, broker-dealer, or asset manager.
- Strong understanding of OTC derivative products (e.g., interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, equity derivatives, FX options).
- Working knowledge of ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, and ISDA definitional booklets.
- Proficiency in industry confirmation platforms (e.g., MarkitWire, DTCC DerivSERV) and MS Excel.
- Advanced Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Automation skills (e.g. Alteryx, Python) a plus
- Languages: fluent in English. German or French a plus.
- Open to working in other front to back office functions (e.g. settlements)
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in legal drafting and economic verification.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize under tight deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive and collaborative approach to issue resolution.
