Company Description
MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines.
METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.
Job Description
- Generate and bring to market both technically and fundamentally driven strategies that maximise profitability from day ahead right through to the balancing markets
- Calibrate and execute trading strategies in day-ahead and intraday power markets to maximize profitability
- Monitor market fundamentals, price drivers, and interconnection flows to identify trading opportunities
- Optimize the asset portfolio on the short-term time horizon by identifying opportunities across all revenue streams and asset types
- Collaborate with forecasting and analytics teams to refine price models and market predictions by providing insights from research and market observations
- Contribute to the development of the short-term trading team by mentoring junior traders and enhancing processes
- Optimise the algorithmic trading platform to achieve the best execution
- Guide the system development and cooperation with other functional teams from the commercial angle, such as interconnected forecasting systems (meteorology, network congestions, system state, imbalance market analysis), algorithmic trading, commercial logic of aggregators, etc
Qualifications
- Degree in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, physics, engineering)
- 1-5 years of experience in power spot trading, with a strong track record in day-ahead and intraday markets, CWE / SWE geographical experience is advantageous
- Working knowledge of European power market key principles, including market rules and imbalance price formulation mechanisms
- In-depth knowledge of at least one country is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and preference for proficiency in tools like Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and forecasting
- A self-starter, someone who keeps up with the latest market behaviours and regulatory changes to be ahead of the market
