Alcon Indirect Tax Team is responsible for the global Indirect Tax strategy, ensuring that Alcon Group business is conducted in a manner compliant with the applicable Indirect Tax legislation and are conducted in an optimal manner from an indirect perspective. The Indirect Tax Team provides Indirect Tax functional guidance and advice to the Alcon Affiliates and business functions in the framework of projects and ongoing operations in close collaboration with other Business Stakeholders.
The Indirect Tax Manager is key Indirect Tax Team member. He/ She is directly responsible for the provision of indirect tax subject matter advice to Alcon Affiliates and business functions in its region of responsibility.
He/she proactively investigates activities and manages applicable audits, identifying opportunities to drive productivity and manage risk, considering changes in local Indirect Tax laws and legislations.
Indirect Tax Function and Strategy:
Supports the implementation of the Global Indirect Tax Strategy and Governance across the Group;
Actively participates and contributes to the preparation of Indirect Tax policies, guidelines and instructions;
Acts as a point of contact of the Global Indirect Tax team for his/her region of responsibility. Owns and actively manages the Indirect tax position of the Group in his/her region.
Actively participates and contributes to strategic planning, tax advice, risk management, issue resolution and management of external service providers.
Actively participates in the implementation of new and improvement of existing Indirect Tax relevant system set-ups and automation projects.
Supports International Indirect Tax Director in the measurement and delivery of function`s goals and KPI targets.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Provides Indirect Tax input and advice to Alcon Business and other Alcon Functions on new and ongoing material business activities, operations and supply chain flows;
Actively participates in Alcon Group Projects and provides Indirect Tax subject matter advice to project teams and other functions;
Partnering with Alcon Affiliates and Business Functions, pro-actively collects information on business activities performed by Alcon Group in the region, performs indirect tax reviews and indirect tax risk assessments and prepares action plans for mitigating potential indirect tax risks and utilising indirect tax opportunities;
Monitors changes to indirect tax rules and regulations and oversees/supports the update of ERP Systems and business/finance processes by the local tax responsible teams;
Acts as a back-up reviewer for the Indirect Tax Compliance activities of the Alcon Principal Company (where so required).

Actively collaborates with Business and Finance Functions working style being inclusive, proactive, respectful, and results driven in alignment with Alcon Values and Behaviours;
Supports the training of Alcon stakeholders on technical indirect tax matters.
Compliance:
Ensures all processes, policies and procedures are clearly defined, fully documented, in line with Alcon standards and consistent with best practices, as well as aligned with the Global Alcon Blueprint;
Ensures compliance with Alcon Financial Controls Manual (AFCM) and regulatory requirements and implementation in internal guidelines.
Ensures application of agreed Alcon control procedures and actively support to deliver SOX certification. Performs annual (spot check) reviews for completeness and correctness of the execution of the key Indirect Tax AFCM controls by the Alcon Affiliates in scope.
Promotes a strong control environment and follow up on audit issues and implement correcting measures.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Education (minimum/desirable): University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance or Law
Languages: English (mandatory), other languages will be a plus
Experience and skills:
Strong Indirect Tax knowledge with minimum +5/6 years of International Indirect Tax experience, gained in a Big 4 Indirect Tax practice (preferred) and/or in-house International Indirect Tax position;
EMEA Experience is required. Experience in other regions will be considered as a plus;
Experience with SAP will be a plus.
Self-starter, pro-active with a 'can do’ attitude
Ability to work independently, foreseeing projects and deliverables from start to finish;
Good communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational and planning skills.
