Health & Safety Advisor – Repairs & Maintenance

Location: Office-based 3 days/week, remote working available
Contract Type: Full-time
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for site visits
Stage One Interviews: 13 August (Teams)

The Role

We’re looking for a proactive and operationally experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our Repairs & Maintenance team. You’ll be the go-to person for health and safety advice, working closely with supervisors and managers to ensure our services are safe, compliant, and continuously improving.

We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in repairs and maintenance, as your insight into day-to-day operations will be invaluable in identifying practical health and safety risks and ensuring safe, efficient working practices across our sites.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are the same in this role. You’ll be out and about across our sites, working shoulder-to-shoulder with supervisors, trades teams, and managers to make sure health and safety is more than just a checklist, it’s part of how we work.

You’ll:

  • Carry out engaging, hands-on audits and inspections that drive real improvements
  • Help teams identify and manage risks in a way that’s practical and easy to follow
  • Be a trusted advisor on legislation, best practice, and emerging safety issues
  • Deliver or coordinate training that empowers people to work safely and confidently
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, turning lessons into action
  • Collaborate with colleagues to shape policies and procedures that work on the ground
  • Provide clear, actionable reports that help managers make informed decisions

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in construction or property maintenance, with a strong understanding of engineering disciplines
  • A NEBOSH Certificate (minimum) and membership of a recognised professional body (or willingness to join)
  • Strong operational awareness and ability to work collaboratively with site teams
  • Excellent communication, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and across multiple sites
  • Confident using IT systems and digital tools

Living Our Values

We’re proud of our culture and values, and we’re looking for someone who shares them:

  • Be kind – You show empathy and thoughtfulness in every interaction
  • Do the right thing – You act with integrity and in the best interests of our residents
  • Love new ideas – You’re curious and always looking for ways to improve
  • Celebrate diversity – You value different perspectives and help create a sense of belonging
  • Keep our promises – You’re reliable and follow through on commitments
  • Pull together – You collaborate effectively, even in challenging situations

Why Work With Us?

  • 30 days’ annual leave + bank holidays
  • 2 paid volunteering days per year
  • Flexible benefits scheme
  • 4x salary life assurance
  • Up to 10% pension contribution

We’re Committed to Inclusion

We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We actively encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply, as we believe that a wide range of perspectives makes us stronger and more effective in serving our communities.

Ready to Apply?

If you’re passionate about health and safety and want to make a real impact in a dynamic, people-focused environment, we’d love to hear from you.
