Head of Marketing – Switzerland
As Head of Marketing, you will lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing marketing team with a strong sense of purpose, curiosity, and ownership. You will foster a culture that values challenging the status quo, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous learning ensuring that marketing is a driving force for growth and impact across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development: Provide clear strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the marketing team. Develop individual and team capabilities through hands-on coaching, feedback, and mentoring. Promote a mindset of excellence, adaptability, and accountability in line with the demands of both a generics and innovative product portfolio. Build confidence and strategic clarity within the team to enable proactive ownership of business challenges and opportunities.
Strategic Marketing & Commercial Impact: Define and execute robust brand strategies for field force-promoted products, aligned with Swiss market dynamics and global guidance. Take ownership of full brand lifecycle management – from opportunity assessment and positioning through to tactical execution and performance tracking. Translate strategy into action, delivering measurable impact on market share, revenue, and customer engagement.
External Advocacy & Guideline Shaping: Actively contribute to the external environment by engaging with key opinion leaders, societies, working groups, and advocacy bodies. Represent the organisation in shaping relevant treatment guidelines and positioning frameworks both for in-market brands and future launches to create long-term value for patients and the healthcare system.
Product Launches: Play a leading role the strategic planning and execution of Rx, Gx & innovative product launches, ensuring readiness across all phases from pre-marketing through post-launch performance. Establish clear governance, timelines, and cross-functional accountability across Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, and Operations. Champion patient-centric, insight-driven approaches to position new therapies for success in a competitive landscape.
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration: Act as a key partner to global, regional, and local colleagues, ensuring alignment of Swiss marketing plans with broader brand strategies. Work closely with sales, medical, access, finance, and operational teams to integrate insights, co-create solutions, and jointly drive business results. Build trust and influence across the organisation to ensure marketing is seen as a strategic business partner.
Customer & Market Insight: Lead the generation and integration of actionable customer insights, competitive intelligence, and market segmentation. Ensure marketing strategy is rooted in a deep understanding of customer needs, healthcare system dynamics, and the unique role of each brand in the treatment landscape.
Digital & Omnichannel Transformation: Drive the modernisation of marketing by embedding digital and omnichannel engagement models. Leverage data and technology to enhance reach, relevance, and return on investment across all promotional channels.
Performance Management & Compliance: Own the forecasting and budget planning for the marketing portfolio. Set clear performance expectations and ensure disciplined execution to deliver results. Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure all activities meet regulatory standards and internal policies.
About Your Skills & Experience
Minimum 8-10 years of marketing experience in the Innovative pharmaceutical / biotech industry, with at least five years in a leadership role
Proven track-record in launching innovative patented Rx products, leading cross functional teams at country level and representing the country in global cross functional teams
Experience in Cardiology, Immunology or Hematology preferred
Good / practical knowledge/ work experience of the Swiss pharmaceutical market
Strong analytical- and strategic capabilities, able to articulate a focused and business-oriented marketing strategy
Proficiency in digital marketing, omnichannel engagement, and data-driven decision-making, including the use of AI tools
Profound business knowledge and ability to analyze key business performance indicators
Strong leadership skills including presentation, negotiation, and decision-making skills
Strong Team management skills, ability to drive a team of professionals to high performance in a motivating manner
Excellent German & English language skills, both written and oral. French in addition preferred.
